Full Vacancy Description

We currently have a full time temporary agency post available working for Manchester City Council's Food and Health and Safety Team. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved with a busy city based team with a wide range of premises and a varied workload.

We require candidates that have suitable experience to undertake food safety inspections, re-visits, undertake enforcement action and respond to customer service requests. You will be expected to complete inspection reports, establish and allocate food hygiene ratings and prepare schedules of work for food business operators. You will also be expected to investigate complaints relating to poor food hygiene practices and advise business on improvements and update customers.

As these are unprecedented and challenging times due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we also welcome candidates that may not be food competent but have experience of health and safety at work enforcement to assist us on Covid secure compliance or may have skills relevant to our track and trace response.

The Environmental Health Officer must have experience of undertaking food hygiene inspections and responding to service requests. Food standards and health and safety experience is desirable. Environmental Health Officers must have obtained an Environmental Health Board of Registration Certificate (EHRB) for food safety work but an Environmental Health Degree or alternative qualification and experience will be sufficient for a role relating to health and safety or track and trace. The contract is initially for immediate start until March 2020 with a view to extending this as required. Port health skills related to imported foods are desirable but not essential.
