Job Description
Post Title: Animal Health Enforcement Officer
Job Purpose: Responsible for primarily the inspection and sampling of feed at feed premises.
Provide assistance to Enforcement Officers (EOs) and Assistant Trading Standards Officers (ATSOs).
Requirements
An enthusiastic and self-motivated person is required to enforce legislation regulating the supply, storage, carriage, mixing, composition and labelling of animal feeding stuffs.
The post will involve the provision of advice and information on animal feed hygiene regulations and their enforcement. This will be carried out during inspections at farms, feed mills and other premises in the chain between production and use. Taking samples of feeding stuffs is one of the post holder's duties.
Applicants must be educated to Higher standard with good report writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Experience of the animal feed or farming industries is desirable as is some experience of, or qualification in, quality assurance and HACCP systems. Candidates must be able to travel throughout the area.
The successful candidate should be prepared to work towards applicable qualifications as required by Food Standards Scotland to maintain competency and knowledge in the relevant legislation.
