Working Arrangements : as a field officer, carrying out visits to trader premises but there may well be an element of working from office as part of that function, but it would be minimal.
The contractor will need to be food qualified and competent in order to carry out food enforcement visits. The job will be very much about carrying out enforcement visits to food businesses across the County. The worker will need to be able to travel from home to carry out visits. Due to the geography of our county, the candidate must have their own car which can be used for work purposes.
As a Trading Standards Officer you are regarded as a qualified officer by the Council. You will be asked to conduct interventions with businesses to ascertain regulatory compliance, and to act as an investigating officer on matters appropriate to your level of competence.
You will be making judgements on matters such as compliance with regulations, the issuing of improvement notices, securing evidence, liaising with test houses, identifying witnesses and conducting formal interviews.
You may be asked to act as, for example, a Single Point of Contact for a District / Borough Environmental Health Team, provide assured advice, represent the Service on a regional group (e.g. TSSEL focus group), act as an assessor or provide internal training to colleagues. You will be required to give evidence at Court as necessary.
