We are looking to recruit a temporary Trading Standards Officer for our Scottish local authority client to assist with COVID recovery. Based within the Trading Standards team but working on an 'agile worker home based' arrangement this is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to make a difference and join one of the country's most innovative Trading Standards services.

As a key member of this team you will use your knowledge and skills to investigate complex complaints, undertake a mixture of both civil and criminal enforcement interventions, and provide bespoke advice and compliance guidance to local businesses.

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate their ability to proactively develop their own initiatives. Applicants must have the ability to work within a team framework, work to specific deadlines and possess excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at various levels including elected members and members of the business community. Applicants must have excellent IT skills. A current driving licence is essential. CTSI membership is desirable.

Ideally, you will have experience across the full breadth of traditional and innovative trading standards work, including:

·         You will have undertaken investigations and prosecutions as well as working with businesses to help bring them into compliance.

·         You will have made warrant and RIPSA applications and will have an understanding of intelligence led enforcement.

You will have the Diploma in Trading Standards or equivalent qualification.
