Our Public Sector client is looking to recruit an Interim Trading Standards Officer on a 3–4-month initial contract.
Your main focus will be to support with food standards and weights & measures to secure a fair and safe trading environment. You offer advice, investigate complaints and make enforcements of statutory criminal and civil provisions to ensure that the public are not put at risk from the sale and/or use of unsafe or dangerous products and to ensure their economic wellbeing is maintained by protecting them from illegal or unfair trading practices.
Key duties will include:
Ensure compliance with trading and safety standards.
Undertake inspections, investigate and take the appropriate actions.
Undertake test purchasing, sampling and screen testing.
Prepare case material.
Maintain up to date knowledge in Trading Standards.
The ideal candidate will have past experience working in a Trading Standards based role completing similar duties or will have past experience in a similar enforcement role in a regulatory based environment that has given you an awareness / knowledge of trading standards legislation such as Police Officer, Community Support or Technical Officer. You will also have excellent communication, documentation and organisational skills.
