A North London Council is looking for an experienced Trading Standards Enforcement Officer

You will be working directly for a North London Council within a very experienced and cohesive team alongside the Food Health & Safety/Trading Standards Manager.

Your new role

To undertake the enforcement of all legislation and duties delegated to the service by the Council both civil and criminal including Weights and Measures and act as delegated statutory weights and measures officer. Food Standards and Health and Safety at Work Act (REACH Enforcement) matters, and more complex cases.

To support the Manager in the conduct and development of the operational enforcement of Trading Standards Legislation and in promoting fair trading and an environment of fair competition within the Borough.

To be a full and active member of the Trading Standards Team.

To give legal advice to business and consumers on Trading Standards and consumer law issues, including Weights and Measures, Health and Safety at Work Act (REACH Enforcement) matters, Food Standards and provide education on Trading Standards related issues throughout the borough.

To work on projects which will facilitate both Service and Corporate objectives, making recommendations as appropriate, under the supervision of the Team Leader to deploy assigned resources and see assigned projects through to successful conclusion.

Represent the service on regional groups relating to trading standards functions, community groups and service improvement activities.

To contribute to service development, benchmarking, and national performance indicators.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to have a strong background within a similar role dealing with various cases. A background within local authority is desirable but not essential. This role is an immediate requirement therefore you must be available to work with a weeks’ notice
