Health & Safety Manager (COVID-secure elections & counts)

Role

To co-ordinate the development and implementation of Health and Safety guidance to Returning Officers and Election Managers throughout the County, to ensure that elections and counts take place in a COVID-secure way.

Deliverables

1.         Collaborate with Infection Prevention and Control professionals to interpret all relevant guidance, and consider the implications on health and safety of all staff, volunteers and citizens involved in elections and counts

2.         Use a range of resources to develop guidance for Returning Officers, Election Managers and election staff to ensure the effective operation of a COVID-secure election site

3.         Contribute to the development of strategies and plans, including site specific plans

4.         Review and provide feedback on any plans and guidelines already produced

5.         Provide guidance on the types of PPE, cleaning equipment and regimes, screens, waste disposal and other resources necessary

6.         Advise on, develop and, where necessary, deliver training to Returning Officers, Election Managers and election staff

7.         Provide a Single Point of Contact for Returning Officers and Election Managers for queries relating to the operation of COVID secure election sites and counts

8.         Work with colleagues to provide in-person support through visits to election sites and counts before and during election day

Accountability and engagement

9.         Engage with Election Managers to establish core business requirements for elections and counts

10.       Attendance at Election Managers Forum

11.       Accountable to designated Consultant in Public Health, Hertfordshire County Council

Requirements

           Qualification and senior level experience in infection prevention and control and/or health and safety

           5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day

           Longer hours and out-of-hours required in the lead up to and during election day

           Ability to travel in a COVID-secure way to multiple sites across the County during election day

Note

predominately home working with some necessity to visit polling and count venues across the county as required.
