Environmental Health Officer (food)

Full Vacancy Description

We currently have 1 full time temporary post available for an Environmental Health Officer/Food Safety Officer working for Manchester City Council's Food and Health and Safety Team. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved with a diverse and busy city-based team with a wide range of premises and a varied workload.    

We require candidates that have suitable experience to undertake food safety inspections, re-visits, undertake enforcement action and respond to customer service requests. You will be expected to complete inspection reports, establish and allocate food hygiene ratings and prepare schedules of work for food business operators. You will also be expected to investigate complaints relating to poor food hygiene practices and advise business on improvements and update customers.

The Environmental Health Officer must have experience of undertaking food hygiene inspections and responding to service requests. Food standards and health and safety experience is desirable but not essential. Environmental Health Officers must have obtained an Environmental Health Board of Registration Certificate (EHRB) for food safety work. The contract is initially for immediate start until 31st March 2022.

A Covid 19 risk assessment and full PPE will be provided. We will also undertake an individual risk assessment with successful candidates prior to starting work to assess any additional covid-19 controls that may be required.

Duration - Until 31/03/2022

Pay Rate - Dependent on experience (between £35p/h - £43p/h)

Ideally full-time but other arrangements will be considered

Location: Working from home and out on district as required. We have currently put in place a system of remote assessments followed by follow up inspections to reduce the time spent on-site. Our office is available for posting and printing and short sessions in the office if required. The office is located at Hammerstone Road Depot, Hammerstone Rd, Gorton, Manchester
