Job description                     Performance and Data Officer

 

The contract is due to run between 20 November 2017 and 29 March 2019

 

The pay is £10.07 per hour PAYE which rises to £10.33 after twelve weeks or £12.54 per hour umbrella which rises to £12.86 after twelve weeks

About the Service

 

Community Safety is the generic name given to the grouping of what used to be separate services including Trading Standards, Scientific Services and Animal Health and Welfare. Community Safety is part of the Families and Communities Directorate and exists to deliver and contribute to the Vision and Mission of Staffordshire County Council and to discharge mandatory duties placed on the local authority by central government.

 

The Claims Management Regulation Unit supports the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) with responsibilities for authorisations, monitoring the market and enforcement in relation to the Compensation Act 2006.  This Act introduces a compulsory authorisation procedure and rules of conduct for claims management businesses.

 

The Claims Management Regulation Unit is responsible for the enforcement of The Compensation Act 2006.  We work to protect and promote the interests of consumers and the public, and to ensure that the firms we regulate understand and comply with the conditions of their authorisation. 

 

We ensure that businesses who are authorised to provide Regulated Claims Management Services (RCMS) comply with the Conduct of Authorised Persons Rules 2014.  Where we establish that businesses are not compliant we will take action in accordance with our enforcement policy to bring them to compliance.

 

Reporting Relationships

 

Responsible to:        Support Services Manager

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

To assist the Performance and Research Officer in the effective analysis performance data

 

To produce and present monthly, quarterly and annual performance management information, within required timescales, with particular emphasis on team based performance and service delivery targets

 

To support the development and maintain monitoring systems for all departmental indicators, targets and standards

 

To monitor and analyse the Unit’s performance against the business plan and prepare reports and to make support the Research and Performance Officer in recommendations to the Unit’s management team based on the analysis

 

To be responsible for the accurate and efficient entry of sensitive and confidential data onto various information databases in accordance with the Unit’s quality standards

 

To contribute towards the efficient and effective communication of performance issues to the management team

 

To assist with analysis of the Unit’s performance against the business plan and prepare reports for the Unit’s management team

 

To prepare information both statistical and narrative for the completion of return and reports

 

To support the production of newsletters when required detailing highlighting incidents of note

 

To support the development and improvement of the unit’s procedures and database

 

To provide assistance and support to nominated senior staff, including research, information gathering and disseminating information

 

To establish and maintain records in accordance with the unit’s policies

 

To undertake administrative duties and support duties as directed to ensure the efficient running of the Unit

 

To raise awareness of the regulation of claims management and promote the interests of consumers within the allocated geographical area

 

To work with team colleagues to communicate areas of development

 

To undertake in-service training as required by the training plan and to participate in the in-service training of other staff

 

Undertake any other duties required by management which are commensurate with the grade of the post

Person Specification                                                                                

 

Qualifications/Professional membership

 

Educated to level 3 or equivalent

 

GCSE English and Maths grade C or above     

 

Knowledge and Experience

 

Understanding of performance indicators and their purpose

 

Understanding of Data Quality principles

 

Able to identify, retrieve and interpret information from a variety of sources to produce reports

 

Ability to communicate issues in a simple and easy to understand manner

 

Experience in using Microsoft office in particular advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

 

Experience of working with large volumes of data.

 

Capable of working either on your own or within a team.

 

Experience of office procedures, systems and equipment     

 

Skills

 

Analytical, literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to research, interpret, compile and write performance reports

 

Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and presentation

 

Good analytical skills with the ability to analyse statistical data and present findings
