Trading Standards Officer

We are currently looking a Trading Standards Officer to join our expanding team in the north east. This position is on a contract basis starting as soon as possible and will last until the mid February 2020, subject to review.

As a Trading Standards Officer you will be responsible for the enforcement of relevant trading standards legislation and will play a lead role in seeking compliance with and enforcing weights and measures legislation.

In this job, you will also investigate offences under trading standards legislation and take appropriate action under the Council's Enforcement Policy, including conducting interviews in accordance with PACE 1984 and all other relevant legislation.

As a Trading Standards Officer, you will also fulfil the role of Deputy Lead Animal Feed Officer including assisting the Trading Standards & Animal Health Manager in the preparation of statutory reports.

The ideal Trading Standards Officer will:

Have a Diploma in Trading Standards or equivalent

Have previous experience of enforcing Weights and Measures legislation as well as previous experience of enforcing animal health & welfare, animal feed and fertiliser legislation

Have knowledge of criminal legislation relating to Trading Standards
