General


This is an fantastic opportunity for an excellent candidate


The succesful candidate will join our north London local authority client on a temporary basis 


Undertake a community-facing role, investigate and resolve complex Environmental Health-related issues for people within the Borough affected by the impacts of the authorised HS2 works (in particular the process of applying for mitigation packages)

 

Responsible for investigation and management of diverse complex casework relating to residents affected by environmental health aspects of the HS2 scheme

 

Provide guidance and advice to colleagues across the organisation on HS2-related environmental health matters

 

Liaise with HS2 Ltd officers on community issues

 

Liaise with Support Officers working with vulnerable people to support at risk members of the community

 

Lead on performance measurement and preparation of performance reports for this role and report quarterly to HS2 Ltd

 

Interpretation of independent assessors reports and Environmental Statement impacts

 

Assist in resolving complaints from the community about environmental health issues connected with the scheme

 

Customer needs include:

 

Information on how they will be affected by the scheme and mitigation that is available

 

Assistance in applying for mitigation from the impacts of the HS2 scheme (in particular modifications to their property to reduce the impact of noise)

 

Advice and support on how to engage with HS2 Ltd or their contractors so their circumstances are taken into account in the design of the scheme and mitigations proposed

 

Signposting to advice and information provided by HS2 Ltd

 

Advice and support to the community on special case applications

 

Example outcomes or objectives that this role will deliver:

 

Resolution of queries on part of residents uncertain about eligibility for residential mitigation and the application process for residential mitigation (including enquiries direct from community, referred by other agencies, member enquiries etc)

 

The post holder is required to work in a busy and demanding environment with competing demands and priorities, working flexibly to meet individual and service objectives.

 

Technical Knowledge and Experience:

 

Essential: hold a BSc/MSc or Diploma in Environmental Health and hold the Environmental Health Registration Board Certificate/Diploma in Environmental Health.

 

Desirable: hold a Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control or equivalent.

 

Have a working knowledge and understanding of environmental health legislation and how it can be applied in relation to the HS2 scheme.

 

Have a working knowledge and understanding of the impacts of the HS2 scheme, organisational awareness and its contractors.

 

Experience of providing advice and support to community in a clear, sensitive and appropriate manner.

 

Ability to analyse business data to inform service improvement, strategic decision-making and resource deployment to achieve service and Camden objectives.

 

A high degree of political awareness, including experience of working with publicly elected representatives.

 

Experience of working collaboratively with internal and external partners to identify innovative and creative approaches to service objectives.

 

Ability to take an organised approach to own workload whilst dealing with conflicting priorities and ensuring a customer service focused approach.

 

Demonstrate excellence in customer care and understanding of the role of local government in supporting residents and businesses to access high quality services.

 

Demonstrate diagnostic complex problem solving skills.

 

Demonstrate your involvement in managing, organising and coordinating cross-service projects, and identify how this has led to a successful outcome.

 

Experience of and ability to manage sensitive intelligence and information securely.

 

The role will be based in an enabled and empowered team focussed service where all officers are expected to work as one team to assist in the development of a culture where knowledge and experience is shared and responsibility for making decisions on complex issues is shared, where appropriate.
