An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Disclosure Officer to join our East Midlands local authority Trading Standards department on a temporary basis.

We are looking for individuals who have substantial experience and knowledge particularly in relation to the Freedom of Information Act alongside any of the following; Data Protection Act, GDPR, Human Rights Act.

Previous experience of investigation of motor dealers would be an advantage

The role will involve decision making, providing disclosures and maintaining and implementing information handling procedures in respect of Freedom of Information requests, however, subject to work demands you could also be asked to assist with the following teams; Data Protection (being subject access requests and any other data protection related matters) and Family Disclosure (in relation to Child Care Proceedings). Full training will be provided as necessary. This will provide you with the opportunity to develop and broaden your skills and knowledge in more than just one area enabling you to have greater access to more opportunities across the force for career development.

You must have a flexible approach to work and understand these roles can be based in any of the Directorate teams and you may be required to move within the teams based on demand although you will primarily be based within the Freedom of Information team. You must be computer literate, have good administrative skills and experience of dealing effectively with people both within and outside of the organisation.

Having previous experience within a Freedom of Information disclosure role is essential however experience in any of the above areas would also be beneficial. You may come from a legal or Freedom of Information/Data Protection background and will ideally be familiar with police systems or have worked within a legal or public sector environment.
